Review Of The Superb Ultra Light Copper Spur UL2 Tent (Part Two Of Two)
This is part 2 of a 2 part article about the ultralight Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 tent.
The earlier article summarised the main features of this award winning Big Agnes Copper Spur series of tents and focused on their qualitities such as their impressive amount of usable space for such light products and the advanced ultra light materials used in their manufacture. Other very well regarded ultra light tents are the Big Agnes Fly Creek range which might be what you are looking for.
With a single hub/pole design, DAC’s twist clips quickly and easily attach the tent body to the pole frame. An H-clip also attaches the tent body to the cross pole. The ultralight aluminium components are manufactured using an advanced eco-friendly anodizing process that eliminates the need for two toxic chemicals and recycles wastewater at the plant.
The material used to make the fly and floor is ultralight silicone treated rip-stop nylon with a 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating whilst the inner tent is ultralight breathable nylon rip-stop and polyester mesh which offers excellent air circulation .
The Copper Spur UL2 has 2 entrances and two spacious vestibules large enough to keep packs and boots in and out of the elements , whilst inside there are useful mesh pockets and loops to attach a Big Agnes wall gear loft ( can be obtained separately). Reflective webbing on the tent corners and reflective guylines for night time visibility as standard, show just how much careful thought has gone into the design of this tent. Waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane has been used to tape all the seams and the 10 superlight aluminum J stakes are eco-friendly anodized. The Copper Spur UL2 has a floor area of 29sq ft and generous head height of 42″ yet packs down to just 7” x 22”.
